The Neuroradiology Fellowship program at the University of Virginia Medical Center is a one-year accredited fellowship program that provides advanced imaging expertise in an academic setting.
The one-year ACGME accredited fellowship program provides advanced training in neuroradiological imaging and procedures. The program offers integrated training experience in a major academic medical center. This unique experience prepares fellows well for a career in both academic radiology and specialized private practice.
Fellows will be exposed to a full variety of neuroradiological cases, including head and neck cases as well as a steady number of pediatric neuroradiological exams. Advanced imaging and a balanced mix of neuroradiological procedures are integrated components of the training. With a total of ten neuroradiology faculty members, all well versed in general neuroradiology, with individuals specialized in head and neck, advanced neuroimaging, pediatric neuroradiology and interventional neuroradiology, the fellowship program provides the fellows with a well-rounded neuroradiology subspecialty education.
The Radiology and Medical Imaging Department has maintained a strong culture in education. The year-round comprehensive teaching curriculum includes didactic lectures in neuroradiology, neuropathology and physics, as well as weekly case conferences. All fellows are provided dedicated academic time to pursue research, mentored by faculty with ongoing research projects, with intent to publish and present the results at major societal meetings.
Prerequisite Training/Selection Criteria: Applicants for the Neuroradiology Fellowship position must have completed an approved Radiology Residency Program and screened by the selection committee. All fellows must be eligible for Virginia Medical Licensure.
