Davis KW, Blankenbaker DG. ExpertDDx: Musculoskeletal. 2nd ed. Elsevier; 2017; 698 pp; $299.99
The second edition of ExpertDDx: Musculoskeletal, edited by Drs. Davis and Blankenbaker from the University of Wisconsin, follows the format familiar to all radiologists. This 900-page book would appeal mostly to general radiologists and to those who primarily deal in MSK radiology; however, for the neuroradiologist, there is significant material here concerning disc disease, paraspinal abnormalities, hip/shoulder abnormalities, and spinal column disease. As with other publications in this series, the book is divided into a clinically based section, an anatomy-based section, and an image-based section. One can, for example, look up painful scoliosis and read (with images) the differential diagnoses and the key information for each. They may also look up specific diseases or investigate the differential possibilities given a certain finding such as multiple sclerotic bone lesions or osteopenia, among many other general findings. This book would make a strong addition to any departmental/sectional library and would be particularly appropriate for MSK specialists.
